In addition to my work as a journalist and writer, I work as an editorial consultant and advisor, helping organisations and publications to shape and clarify their educational messages.

I speak to school, business and parent groups about educational issues, in particular in the area of home-school links -- how schools can reach out to parents, and how parents can help their children thrive at school – and also speak at conferences and run workshops.

"We worked with Hilary on a successful pitch for an Early Years magazine for the Department of Children, Schools and Families. Her input, knowledge and experience were an enormous help in winning it. She really understood the readership and brought invaluable insight to the editorial concept we put together."
Paul Colbert, Editorial Director, John Brown

"Both as a parent and a journalist Hilary is very well informed about educational matters and speaks with a freshness and enthusiasm which is very engaging. She cuts out the jargon and focuses on the people and the ideas,"
Angela Daly, head, Cranbrook School, Kent

"Hilary is a delight to work with. Her journalistic skills - thoroughness, speed and commitment to deadlines - combined with her knowledge of schools and ability to draw people out, make her a first choice for Teaching Awards publications. She has been extremely helpful in getting our messages across."
Sarah Bayliss, Head of Press, The Teaching Awards
